if this is true, that there are pinoy mercs earning $60grand a year, I'm in the wrong business. that is almost 3MIL a year. since there are many pinoy contractors already, I guess it is not too late to start specialized military school which will offer special course such as riding shotgun 101.frankly, I don't see anything wrong about this mercs business, were all crusaders anyways and at 3MIL a year, I'll be much obliged to send this extremist to their waiting 100 virgins.

$60k a year is good pay even by American standards. That is more or less the starting salary of a new lawyer in the US, and the pay scale of experienced nurses and teachers in the US with higher certification. Filipino mercs (mercenaries) can live on just $30k a year and send the other $30k back home--that's about 1.4 million pesos a year in 'perang padala'! Wow. Makes me want to be a mercenary. Living on $30k a year is good enough--Filipinos are naturally thrifty when working abroad--and can buy you a car and rent an apartment or eventually buy a low end house.

"The annual compensation of the lowest paid Blackwater grunt (allegedly) at U.S. $60,000 is approximately a hundred times the annual compensation of a mid-level officer in the Philippine armed forces"

- probably 10x only. $60000 / 100 = $600, which is approx only P30,000 ANNUALLY. An officer in the AFP should be earning around at least P15,000 per month, right?
