wala na yatang kaluluwa ang mga namamahala sa sulpicio lines…. ilang libong tao na ang namatay sa mga barko nyo dahil sa pansarili nyong interes at kapabayaan… kelan nyo bibigyan ng hustisya ang kanilang pagkamatay?! makonsensya naman kayo!!

It would seem that making “Protection and Indemnity” coverage compulsory would be a way of useing the knowledge of the insurance industry worldwide to identify unsafe companies. Insurance witheld? At the very least it would wave a large flag as to the safty record of the vessel and help prevent another tradegy.

@ADUDAE88, that’s exactly what Sulpicio is now saying, that it was an “act of God”. But God didn’t load those pesticides on the MV Princess of the Stars. God didn’t force the ship to continue its journey despite storm warnings.

And if we accept the company’s claim that such events are acts of God, with four major disasters having occurred, isn’t God telling the owners something about how they run their business?

they’re telling now that its PAG-ASA’s fault. . .funny. . .all this blaming. . . well, the corporation has all the right to defend its interests. . .that’s due process. . .but with an overwhelming disaster like this. . .don’t they have a heart?. . the corporation is an artificial person but how about the humans running them. . .don’t they have a heart?. . .I hope the blaming won’t end up with God being at fault

I fully aqree with your post ADB. Sulpicio Lines can be brought down by our concerted efforts. But it will take more than just moral courage and perseverance on the part of the victims. The players in the industry must also take a stand against one of its own and police its ranks properly, instead of protecting a rogue member. One reason why Sulpicio is still around despite its horrific safety record is because the industry, and its regulators, just look the other way. Its time to draw the line.

Then tit for tat!

Subpoena all their records to examine, investigate ever bit of dot, comma, Ts, etc. in their maintenance records and grill every tom dick and harry (from Marina, Coast Guard authorities, DOTC, politicos, insurance brokers, etc) who may have had a hand in keeping Sulpico Lines afloat even after 3 (or was it 4) of their vessels sunk — di this till the end of time so as to keep them from operating…

Remember the Amoco Cadiz disaster off the coast of Brittany? The tanker was also caught in a storm off the northwest coast of France.

The victims hassled the company from day 1 that kept them from operating — took almost 30 years to arrive at compensation but they brought Amoco Cadiz company down! It’s gone bankrupt since!
